Turtle Inn sits on the Placencia Peninsula, a long, narrow strip of land on Belize’s southern coast, in the Stann Creek District. To the east lies the Caribbean, with its coral cayes and the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage site. To the west, behind the inn, are the calm waters of the Placencia Lagoon, where manatees move through the mangrove channels, and beyond them the Maya Mountains and Victoria Peak. To the south, the Monkey River runs down to the coast, fed by the Swasey and Bladen rivers off those same peaks.
At the southern tip is Placencia Village, a fishing community before it was anything else. Its main street is the Sidewalk, a concrete footpath a few feet wide that fishermen laid down in the 1940s to move the day’s catch, years before the road reached this far.

How to get here
Guests arrive at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City, served by direct flights on American Airlines, Delta, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Avianca (formerly TACA).
From Belize City to Placencia:
By air: Tropic Air flies direct to the Placencia airstrip (PLJ), approximately 35 minutes. The airstrip is about five minutes from Turtle Inn.
By road: private transfer or rental car, approximately 3 to 3.5 hours.
Tropic Air also serves Belize to and from Guatemala City, San Pedro Sula, and Cancun. Arrangements can be made for arrival by private charter and helicopter.
