Palazzo Margherita sits a few steps from the center of Bernalda, behind its own walls in the south of Italy. Inside them, the day softens. At the Pool and Garden, the kitchen garden gives up much of what reaches the table, and the water sits in the green within earshot of the town. The Salon is frescoed overhead, and come evening its antique Murano chandelier is raised out of the way and a projector takes its place, each and every film chosen by Francis himself. The Beach is ten minutes off, on the Ionian coast.
