Rooms & Suites at Palazzo Margherita

Palazzo Margherita has nine rooms and suites, and no two are alike. Francis Coppola restored them with acclaimed designer Jacques Grange and brought the whole family in to contribute ideas to the design. Several of the suites carry their names: Sofia, Roman, Gia, and Francis.

The hand-painted fresco ceilings were kept and restored, including one with Cupid and Psyche overhead. The original marble floors were lifted and relaid, and some of the tiles and furniture are Grange’s own designs. Suite Four was Sofia’s to shape, with chevron tiles underfoot, a hammam off the bathroom, and a terrace that opens onto the garden. The Francis Suite is designed in a North African style, in honor of Coppola’s Tunisian-born grandmother.

Most rooms look onto the gardens or courtyard, while others open toward the town. Together, the nine rooms and suites sleep up to twenty-three. Each was made to be lived in rather than looked at, which is rather the point of the place.
