Palazzo Margherita has nine rooms and suites, and no two are alike. Several carry the family’s names, Sofia, Roman, Gia, and Francis, and each keeps its own character. Roman’s turns to Art Deco, while Sofia’s opens through chevron tiles, sylvan murals overhead, to a private terrace over the garden, with a hammam off the bath. Largest of the nine, the Francis Suite has a wood-burning fireplace and a clawfoot bathtub.
Where you wake shapes the morning. The garden rooms look onto the century-old palms and the courtyard fountain, quiet and green; the rooms along the corso have Juliet balconies over the town square, where the day begins with church bells and the café below. Vaulted ceilings rise high overhead, the light crosses the walls slowly through the afternoon, and the rooms fill and empty with the sounds of a house rather than a hotel. Together they sleep up to twenty-three, and each was made to be lived in, not looked at, which is rather the point of the place.
